Qwen-Agent's first tagged release
Alibaba Qwen · · Coding harness
The Qwen team published v0.0.1 of Qwen-Agent, its open framework for building applications on Qwen's function-calling, planning and memory: an agent loop, a tool registry, a code interpreter, RAG and a BrowserQwen Chrome extension, packaged to PyPI the same day.
Why it matters
The first agent framework published by a Chinese frontier lab under its own model's name — LangChain's role, but written by the lab that makes the model rather than around it. It is the line from which Alibaba's later first-party harnesses descend, and it predates Qwen Code by fifteen months.
This is LLM World's historical reading, not a claim by Alibaba Qwen. The facts above and the sources below are what it rests on.

Record status: verified · confidence 75/100
The GitHub release v0.0.1 on QwenLM/Qwen-Agent was published 2024-04-07T13:25:21Z, and PyPI records the qwen-agent 0.0.1 sdist uploaded 2024-04-07T13:11:08Z — the lab's own two distribution channels, fourteen minutes apart. CHECKED IT IS THE EARLIEST: the releases endpoint returns 25 releases with no Link header, i.e. a single page, and the oldest is v0.0.1; the tags endpoint returns the same 25 names with no tag below v0.0.1. READ THE TITLE SCOPE: this is the first tagged release, NOT the framework's public debut — the repository was created 2023-09-22T02:24:56Z and Qwen-Agent was usable from source for roughly six months before it was ever tagged or packaged. No dated Alibaba blog post announcing Qwen-Agent could be found; qwenlm.github.io/blog has no Qwen-Agent entry. A record for the September 2023 debut would need a source this research did not find.
